GeoSea is progressing with the installation of 54 wind turbine foundations at the Nordsee One offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
TWD designed and assisted in the fabrication of various seafastening and installation structures used for this project on the jack up vessel Innovation. They include seafastening structures for monopoles, transition pieces, the hammer, the noise mitigation system and lower boat landings.
One of the most challenging features of this project is the installation of the lower boat landings. They are being carried and installed onto the monopiles by using the boat landing installation aid (BIA) – also designed by TWD. The BIA enables the crew to perform the complex lift and install the lower boatlandings safely and efficiently in the splash zone of the foundations.
Besides these large structures, TWD helped GeoSea streamline the installations by also designing some small practical tools, such as a lifting frame for transition piece covers and installation aids on the transition piece flange to help position the transition pieces on the monopiles.
We would like to congratulate GeoSea and Nordsee One GmbH on the already installed foundations and we are looking forward to an efficient completion of the project.
